Andrew Pettegree in Oslo

Andrew Pettegree, reknowned book historian and professor of history at the University of St. Andrews, spoke on “Architecture in the Early Print World” at the P&B project’s first reading seminar of 2017. Using The Universal Short Title Catalogue (USTC) developed by Professor Pettegree and his research team, a new history of architectural publication could be outlined. The P&B team has also been reading Pettegree’s book The Invention of News. How the World Came to Know about Itself (Yale UP 2014); a fascinating study of the birth of a commercial culture of news publication in the four centuries between 1400 and 1800.
