We are delighted to congratulate Mari Lending who has been presented with the EAHN Publication award 2016 at the recent EAHN Conference in Dublin. The prize is awarded annually for the best article published in the EAHN Journal Architectural Histories. Lending’s article, ‘Promenade Among Words and Things: The Gallery as Catalogue, the Catalogue as Gallery’, explores late 19th-century catalogues of casts and their trading between Europe and North America. Tracing the history of distinct exhibition spaces and their catalogues, she emphasises the dichotomy between the development of the cast as image-object and illustration, on one side, and the catalogue as its word and image curatorial version, on the other. Her article appeared in the Special Collection ‘Building Word Image: Printing Architecture 1800-1950’ edited by Catalina Mejía Moreno and Anne Hultzsch.
